This week we launched the first issue of our new series, CURSE OF THE GORGON, with Bad Bug Media as its publisher on Kickstarter, and I am extremely happy to report that its doing very well so far and was funded within the first four hours of launching! And now, readers will get the opportunity to read a Medusa story like no other…
This Medusa story is a modern take of the Greek mythological character that gives a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde vibe as Mandisa Jones…
…deals with a Medusa-alter ego that arises through a transformative process…
…causing passionate and violent urges that leads her to kill her victims, turning them to stone.
At the time of writing this, we are closing in on our first stretch goal of $10k where all physical backers will get a limited Bad Bug Medusa Tarot Card! It’s truly an exciting time for BlaX Trauma Productions, and as a comics studio we are grateful for our partnership with our publisher Bad Bug Media, who has been nothing short of phenomenal in the production of this book. Mike, the founder/owner/publisher for Bad Bug Media and myself actually sat down and talked about it and you can check that video out on the campaign’s Kickstarter page HERE.
Just to get into some of the pre-production process, the story itself began with a pitch.
This is the actual pitch that I took to Mike and the Bad Bug Media crew. As you can see, the working title was Mrs. Gorgon (at this point, however, earlier on it was Medusa Lives. We actually went through a few titles before honing in on Curse of the Gorgon as the one that fit the story the best). Those conversations were fun.
Next up was the summary of the story, then the outline. I actually wrote a full script for Issue #1 and then editorial brought me back notes. I looked at those notes and we all talked about the story and its place as a Bad Bug title. All of came to the conclusion that this wasn’t the final version of the story, that there was more that could be done, more story to be told, I felt it too, but it was the editorial process and the good people at Bad Bug with their copious notes and careful eye for storytelling, that challenged me to keep crafting and to discover the story beyond its original conception. And the result of that process was a third version of an outline and new Issue #1 script after the outline’s approval.
BECOME A BACKER OF CURSE OF THE GORGON #1
I’m a process guy, and I’ve learned to become this. As I’ve gotten older and as my writing career has progressed, the journey towards things has become more important than the goal or destination of things. And I have truly experienced that with creating Curse of the Gorgon.
Thanks for taking the time to be here with us, to interact within the Trauma Talk community! We are beyond excited about this title and what it can be within the NSFW/Adult Comic space.
